Photos: Szentendre, Hungary

Matthew Anderson · Jun 10, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Szentendre is a cute little town on the western bank of the Danube, just a 40-minute train ride north of Budapest. Known primarily for its picturesque beauty and myriad art museums, Szentendre is a wonderful day trip from Budapest.

It’s close enough to Budapest that it’s a popular spot for tourists, but it wasn’t too busy when we dropped by for a couple of hours in early June. We actually spent more time on the Danube riverbank, which (unlike in downtown Budapest) is easily accessible for those who, like our boys, love the satisfying splash of rocks plopping into water.
